Barcelona are putting transfer matters to one side after Eidur Gudjohnsen was linked with a move to Manchester United as part of a swap deal with Gerard Pique. Gudjohnsen, who left Chelsea for Barcelona 12 months ago, is reportedly no longer wanted by Camp Nou coach Frank Rijkaard. His father, and agent, has recently admitted that the Iceland international is not considering a return to the Premier League in the summer. But reports in the Spanish media have claimed that Barca are keen to set up a swap deal involving centre-half Pique. The youngster came through the Barca youth setup before joining United and has impressed during a season-long loan at Real Zaragoza. However, ahead of the final game of the season against Gimnastic on Sunday, which Gudjohnsen will miss, Barca want to focus on matters in hand. "Our objective is to win the last match and to win La Liga," a club spokesman told Sport. "The question of players is on stand-by until the end of the season." poor choice...3rd hand player..no good

Fabio Quagliarella's agent has claimed that the Sampdoria striker could join Manchester United before the start of the new season. Silvio Pagliari maintains Sir Alex Ferguson made a £10million bid for his client recently and, if the offer still stands, then the Italian international could be on his way to Old Trafford. Quagliarella has become one of the most in-demand strikers in Serie A since his move to Samp last summer, and the 23-year-old announced his potential to a wider audience with two stunning goals in Italy's recent Euro 2008 qualifier against Lithuania. After scoring 13 goals in 35 league appearances for Samp last season, his agent has now opened the door to a possible move to England. "One month ago, Manchester United made a £10million offer," said Pagliari "We believe Fabio is worth between €15 to €20million (£10 to £13million), hence if the English club's offer still stands, he could probably go abroad." United chief executive David Gill has previously hinted that the English champions are seeking to purchase a new striker after already reinforcing their squad with the additions of Owen Hargreaves, Nani and Anderson. ;D ;D ;D ..good..kakakaka

MU can't b serious???
Gudjohnsen talks up Man United link
Former Chelsea striker Eidur Gudjohnsen has admitted he would be interested in a move to Manchester United.
The Iceland international has been linked with a move away from current club Barcelona back to England with the Premier League champions.
The 29-year-old has had a difficult first season at the Nou Camp since leaving Stamford Bridge in an £8million deal last summer.
Gudjohnsen, said: 'I joined Barcelona to be part of the club's triumphs but it is not easy for me when you look at the club's forward line and see all the big names there.
'Each minute has been a special test for me but to sit on the bench is not the most desirable experience for a player.
'If I leave then my idea would be to return to British football. A perfect choice for me will be a club that plays in the Champions League.
'Obviously Manchester United fit that category.'

Chelsea scout Piet de Visser insists Manchester United paid over-the-odds for Nani. The Dutchman, a personal adviser to Blues owner Roman Abramovich and one of their main scouts, is known as one of the best judges of talent in Europe. Talking to Dutch television, de Visser revealed that he and Chelsea were well aware of Nani - but he was not worth the money that United paid. "Of course we knew about Nani for a long time," he told Tien TV. "He is a talent, but if you look at the European Championship in Portugal and the current tournament in the Netherlands - Nani has not shown any progress. "Therefore I think Manchester United have paid too much money for a player who has talent, but has not developed since last year." De Visser also revealed that he was looking at up to four players at the current European Under-21 tournament. got 2 agreed with him,,Nani is not worth that kind of $$$

FINALLY
Manchester United complete Tevez deal
Carlos Tevez has finally completed his protracted move to Old Trafford. Manchester United have confirmed Tevez has joined the club on a two-year loan, ending a protracted period of negotiation which has lasted almost throughout the summer.
The 23-year-old's registration with West Ham was cancelled by the Premier League earlier this week but every item of paperwork within the new deal has been scrutinised in an effort to avoid the kind of wrangle which erupted over the 'third-party' ownership of Kia Joorabcian during Tevez's time at West Ham.
Although Sir Alex Ferguson had expected the deal to have been completed long before now, the United boss felt it was 'understandable' it should have taken so long.
Tevez has been training with United all week anyway but Ferguson now faces a tricky decision over whether to include the Argentina forward in his squad to face Reading on Sunday, when the Red Devils begin the defence of their title.
Although the idea must be tempting - and it would be no surprise if Tevez found himself on the bench against Steve Coppell's men - Ferguson indicated earlier today, before the signing had been completed, next Sunday's derby encounter with Manchester City was a more realistic target.
'Carlos has surprised us,' he admitted. 'We thought he would need more training but he looks in great shape.
'I am happy with what the Premier League are doing because eventually we will get a player in the right circumstances, with everything clarified and cleared by the appropriate authorities.
'But even if it was all done today, I wouldn't use him on Sunday. It would more likely be against Manchester City next weekend.
'It is a difficult situation to assess because a derby game can be frenetic. Once we know he can play, we can make a decision quite easily.'
Tevez will wear the number 32 shirt at Old Trafford - the same he wore at West Ham. ;D ;D ;D

ONLY 60 GOALS... ;D
Benitez sets strikers 60-goal target
Rafael Benitez wants goals, goals, goals and an immediate return for his £40million summer spending spree. Benitez is well aware he is under intense pressure to produce a genuine title challenge and that, as Jose Mourinho points out, he cannot play the pauper any longer.
But he goes into the new campaign at Aston Villa brimming with confidence and positively gloating over the quality and options he now has.
Benitez said: 'If you want to be contenders then you have to score a lot more goals than we did.'
To that end Benitez has challenged his four-pronged strike force to hit 60 goals between them.
He sees no problem in accommodating Fernando Torres, Andriy Voronin, Dirk Kuyt and Peter Crouch and is relishing the chance to see them produce a feast of goals.
He said: 'I am not thinking about Torres scoring 20 or more goals. What I would like would be to see is Voronin scoring 10 to 15 goals, Crouch, Kuyt and Torres all the same.
'If we can score goals too from midfield to add to that, that is my aim and that would make me happy.
'I am not sure you need one player who can score 20 goals, you need more options and goals from everywhere in the team.
'When we play against teams like Manchester United, we must win. If you can take six points from them, and points from your other close rivals, then that can make a really big difference.
'It is something we have to learn. Of course you must continue to beat the smaller sides, but taking points from your close rivals is very important.
'I am happy now with my squad. We have two players for every position, that will make things easier for me as we play on four fronts.'
Benitez is determined to make an impact in all four competitions rather than having to virtually choose two because of the size and quality of previous squads.
He added: 'Of course we want to win the Champions League, the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Carling Cup. That goes without saying.
'Obviously the Premier League is the main priority. We will not just try for the main one and forget the rest.
'We will try to do our best in every game, now we have enough players to do a better job on all fronts.
'My first year here I was looking at a subs bench full of young lads. Now we could have Torres, Voronin, Crouch or Kuyt there, that means we can compete in all the competitions.
'Watching the players you can see they are ready. We have pace and are organised. You must be like that in the Premier League. 'I feel we have better players, more offensive players and a good team spirit. I have a lot of confidence, but we have to start by winning now.
'I have had money to spend, I prefer that because I can buy better players and that is better for the club.
'The difference now is that I have a much bigger squad than when I arrived. Now we have more players and more quality.
'This is the best squad we have had in four seasons, hopefully it will be even better the season after. The only thing that might concern me is whether they are ready for this competition.'
Benitez is expected to give new signings Torres, Voronin and Yossi Benayoun their league debuts at Villa Park, adding: 'We can do better this season. We knew we were good in defence but we needed to score more goals, so we have signed more offensive players.
'We have tried to improve in the areas we know we had to improve in, and we now we are ready.
'We will try to attack more. I like to attack more and create chances, but we were missing them. What we needed to do was to improve on that.
'The top four will again be the ones contesting the title, plus now Spurs, they have spent well.
'It will be a harder league to win than before, it is always the best and always the most difficult.'
HOW 2 WIN EPL ..ONLY 60 GOALS TARGET,,MU 2ND STRING STRIKE FORCE CAN GET MORE..KAKAKA?,,SPANISH TINKERMAN,,EATS 2 MUCH POTATOES..

Well, it may not be a dream start, but better than losing 3 points.
Anyway, Reading's match strategy was to pin Rooney & Ronaldo down. That was why, whenever Rooney gets into the 6 yard box, there are 4 - 5 Reading players closing him down.
