Bale closes on Tottenham switch Gareth Bale Bale has one year left on his deal at Southampton BBC Sport Wales understands that Gareth Bale will sign for Tottenham Hotspur within the next 24 hours.
The Southampton and Wales full-back completed his medical at White Hart Lane on Thursday.
Saints boss George Burley earlier denied reports that a fee had been agreed between the two clubs.
But the 17-year-old Welsh international is understood to have arranged a move for an initial fee of close to £6m, that could rise to £10m.
The teenage left-back has only one year left on his contract and was also linked with Arsenal and Manchester United.
Spurs had a bid of about £10m accepted by Saints in January, but Bale rejected the transfer at that time.
Following Southampton's failure to gain promotion this season the prospect of first-team football in the Premiership at Tottenham looks to have been enough to change his mind.
Bale made his debut as a 16-year-old last year for Saints - becoming the second youngest to ever play for the club - and this season he has become a regular for Southampton and Wales He's so young and has plenty of time, he'll be a star in the Premiersh
He became the youngest Welsh international when he played against Trinidad & Tobago in May last year, setting up a late winner.
West Ham and Wales centre-back James Collins says his international team-mate will shine in the Premiership.
"It's a fantastic move and Gareth's a fantastic player, I hope it all goes well for him," said Collins, who joined the Hammers from Cardiff two seasons ago.
"It's a massive leap from Championship to Premiership, but he came in at international level and did so well.
"He's so young and has plenty of time, he'll be a star in the Premiership."

INVESTORS POISED FOR UNITED BID
INVESTORS are on red alert for a potential £800million takeover after the revelation that the Glazers are willing to sell Manchester United.
As Mirror Sport exclusively reported yesterday, the Glazer family are ready to listen to bids less than three years after completing their takeover.
That has seen a flurry of activity in the City, with a number of parties ready to voice their interest.
Refinancing has made United's debt more manageable, while new TV and sponsorship deals and hikes in ticket prices have significantly increased revenue.
But City analysts say the Glazers are not making the returns they envisaged.
Investment group Delta Two, who inquired about buying ITV's stake in Arsenal, could be interested, as could Dubai International Capital, who failed to buy Liverpool.
But Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck has warned US investors the Premiership is not a guaranteed cash cow.
Americans George Gillett and Thomas Hicks have bought Liverpool but Buck, a former New York lawyer who has lived in the UK for nearly 25 years, said: "They will be surprised how difficult it is to make money in football."
everybody wants 2 buy United,,l also,,abet a footie jersey,,,lar ;D ;D ;D

39 million can use to get 2 quite good attacking players in Klaus Jan Hunterlaar and nani...... berbatov just have a good first season not guaranteed he will do the same next season like Robben have good first season when he just join chelsea from psv and see now what happen..... the other EPL defender know how to mark Robben so he can't do well like before...so this may also happen to berbatov......
